comment Is there an \autoref for “proof”?
Interesting take on the issue. My only suggestion would be to use the remark theorem style with a proof to distinguish it from the plain style, which is intended for propositions/theorems.

comment Is there an \autoref for “proof”?
Perhaps "forcing numbering for proofs seems odd," but there should be a system for accurately linking propositions to proofs when the proof is too long to be stuck in just below the claim. This discussion actually has me thinking of broader question of the best way to organize propositions and formal proofs when the proofs are too long for the manuscript, which means publishers will want them in a separate document anyway.

comment Gap between double-spaced paragraphs with table
Replacing singlespace with singlespacing seems to have done the trick without raggedbottom.

comment Grandchild files?
No MWE is necessary: I was just making sure it is possible. The problem was that the child (and grandchild) files were in a different folder than the main file, but the relative paths to the grandchild files (within the child files, which are all in the same folder) did not take into account the fact they were in a different folder from the main file.

comment Termcal lesson numbering
Well, obviously there would need to be a way to define that, similar to sections in an article. I know this does not fit in with the basic code of the package, which is why I asked a generic question. I suppose I was just fishing to see if anyone else out there in LaTeXland had thought of this before.
