comment How can I underline a single word with LaTeX?
@JonasDralle: I guess that \uline draws the line at the maximum distance independent of the content while \underline directly uses the bounding box of the content. Test it again with content which has a depth, like the word gym. Note that \underline is AFAIK designed for math and will not break around lines. So it might be fine for single words but not for longer texts.

comment PDF bookmarks for sections and subsections with the llncs class
@Tim: Are you using the llncs class like above or another one? The sectioning depth depends on the class. book style classes start to count at \chapter while article like classes start at \section.

comment How to use tilde or space in includepdf filename?
@sdaau: The handling of double quotes depends on the distribution and the OS as far as I know. Try to use { } instead if you have spaces. There you might want to exclude the extension, like \includepdf[...]{{some file name}.pdf}. This works because the TeX code scanes the filename and splits basename and extension. The braces protect the spaces but are removed when the content is matched during the scan.
