I misunderstood your last comment; to justify my need of replicating the image I should say that I am actually referring to an example given in Chapter 3. Therefore, it really helps to replicate the image. Further, I was able to perform this: "\caption*{Figure \ref{fig:CH3Fig}: ...}", giving the correct Figure number. This does not add an entry to the List of Figures. I am not sure if this will be approved but this looks good for now. Thanks again.

Thanks a lot for your well laid out answer. However, one question remains; is it going to be possible to extend the frame of the code from one listing to the other? I both agree and disagree with your opinion of comments though. I do want to explain my code, however, there are subtle things that I want to write within the listing.
