I'm currently doing my Ph.D in linguistics and decided to write my thesis in
LaTeX since I found setting linguistic examples and syntax trees in Word or similar programs extremely time-consuming and frustrating.
The packages I found most helpful in solving these problems and creating good looking linguistic papers are
jtree, which I want to recommend to any linguist and even linguistic student. I tried similar packages for my purposes, but ended up with these two as they were the only ones that had all the features I needed.
