comment Write unit tests for Lua in ConTeXt
ConTeXt can process .lua files, so why not require the unit test library, and run the test files through context?

comment Showcase of optical illusions made with TeX/LaTeX/LuaTeX/ConTeXt
This has nothing to do with TeX! You are simply including an external image. (And why use tikz for this?)

Why not simply define \renewcommand\item[1][]{\olditem##1\dotfill} without the ##2?

Creating the $VIM/ftplugin directory and creating tex.vim file in that directory should still work.

comment Is it possible to install ConTeXt on Windows without admin rights?
Not sure which contextgarden page you are referring to. Simply follow the command line method to install context standalone. You do not need admin rights for that.

comment How to print random text in ConTeXt?
@doed: I think that something is broken in your installation. You only need write permissions for TEXMFCACHE. Perhaps you can post a new question and ask why your installation is misbehaving.

The example from your fourth edit works fine for me.

comment Which primitives does ConTeXt rename/move?
I suspect that it was close to the beginning. ConTeXt had \expanded and \unexpanded (which is similar to LaTeX's \protect) much before etex. (I am speaking from memory here, so I might be wrong).

comment Escape a string printed from Lua using ConTeXt
It converts \ to \\ , which I guess is mapped to \crlf.

comment Grid system for slides
To resize images use: \externalfigure[name][width=\layoutcolumnwidth, height=6\lineheight] etc. But keep in mind that this will change the aspect ratio of the image. It is better to specify only the width or the height, and let ConTeXt automatically scale the other dimension to maintain the aspect ratio.

comment Grid system for slides
I placed the "top-left" corner of the slide title is at the line. Placing the baseline of the title to the grid is more tricky. If you want to do that, it is easier to place the content using the section heads. See the details manual for different options on aligning section heads to the grid.
