comment Escape a string printed from Lua using ConTeXt
It converts \ to \\ , which I guess is mapped to \crlf.

comment Grid system for slides
To resize images use: \externalfigure[name][width=\layoutcolumnwidth, height=6\lineheight] etc. But keep in mind that this will change the aspect ratio of the image. It is better to specify only the width or the height, and let ConTeXt automatically scale the other dimension to maintain the aspect ratio.

I placed the "top-left" corner of the slide title is at the line. Placing the baseline of the title to the grid is more tricky. If you want to do that, it is easier to place the content using the section heads. See the details manual for different options on aligning section heads to the grid.

@phg: Clearly, I was mistaken. See my answer for a "proper" solution.

(Untested) context(catcodes.numbers.vrbcatcodes, i_can_be_anything) should also work.

comment How to set maxheight of a combination in ConTeXt?
The reason for height=0.8\textheight messing things up was because one cannot mix options (like 1*4) with assignments (like height=0.8\textheight) in ConTeXt. Using \startcombination[nx=1, ny=4, height=0.8\textheight] should work.

comment Get or change ConTeXt path for components/projects/environment
While compiling from products, another option is to run context --path=.. X. (Depending on your setup, changing the command line call may be preferable to editing a file).

comment Get or change ConTeXt path for components/projects/environment
Another option is to compile the files from the garden directory using context products/X. Note that this will create the auxiliary files in the garden directory.

@Nasser or look at the example on context wiki (linked in the question). Any misspelled word is colored red.

comment ConTeXt: How to align a delimitedtext?
\startmiddleanligned...\stopmiddlealigned is equivalent to \midaligned{...}, so it typesets the content inside a \hbox, that does not split lines.

comment ConTeXt: How to align a delimitedtext?
delimitedtext does not provide the align key. (Even if it did, you need a comma after align=middle to get it to work). If you need a specific feature of delimitedtext, please send a feature request to the context mailing list to add align key to delimitedtext? If you just need middle alignment, then the following works: \definestartstop[blockquote][before={\blank[medium]\startmiddlealigned},after={‌\stopmiddlealigned\blank[medium]}].

comment ConTeXt vs LaTeX compilation time
To do a realistic timing comparison, you need a relatively big document (50-100 pages), so that startup time etc. don't skew the results. Also keep in mind that by default Context uses LuaTeX and does multiple runs to get cross references right. To get the best speed from context use luatexjit (by compiling the document using contextjit filename)
