comment ConTeXt's best approximation to amsart
Short answer: None. Unlike LaTeX, it is not too difficult to create such class in ConTeXt. A few of them exist (e.g., for PracTeX Journal, for Tugboat, for MAPS journal, etc.) in the contributed modules or the core modules. But none for Math journals that I am aware of. Note that there are users who use ConTeXt to produce math articles: for a while I used something to mimic IEEE classes, Sanjoy Mahajan has typeset a physics book using ConTeXt; there a Dutch math journal that uses ConTeXt; but since arxiv does accept ConTeXt files, these styles are not public. Also check the mailing list.

comment ConTeXt system font search path
Note that ConTeXt separates kpsewhich variables for MkII (which are defined in texmf.cnf) from those for MkIV (which are defined in texmfcnf.lua). To search for the variables in texmfcnf.lua, you need to use: mtxrun --expand-var OSFONTDIR.

comment Error again, Simplesildes at Context after updated 2014.10.16?
(Untested). Seems like the simpleslides module is not calling the visualcounter module. Add \usemodule[visualcounter] before loading the simpleslide module

comment Is there a dummy package like Lipsum or Blindtext for Tables and Figures?
FWIW, in ConTeXt you can use: \usemodule[visual] \starttext \simplethesis \stoptext to get a thesis sized document consisting of randomized boxes (representing words) and just randomized square boxes for figures. The visual module also provides other useful commands for testing layouts, including randomized formulas, and figures (but no tables).

@Manuel, without the noexpand, the goto in the above example will be expanded.

comment Prevent pdflatex from writing a bunch of files
FWIW, ConTeXt stores all the auxiliary information in a single file filename.tuc. So overall, only two extra files are written: filename.tuc and filename.log. If you want, you can compile the document using context --purge filename.tex which will delete the .tuc and .log files at the end of the run.

comment Is there any way to make formulae look like handwriting?
The Euler font is supposed to be modeled after how mathematicians wrote on a black board. An extended Opentype version of the font is available on github as NeoEuler
