comment How to use ConTeXt in a unix pipeline?
I don't think that it is possible to write PDF to standard output using pdftex or luatex. If you want to remove all temporary files, you can use context --purgeall filename.

I am extremely sorry for the down vote. I was browsing on my phone and accidently pressed down vote while scrolling. I just noticed this now, and the system says that I am not allowed to change my down vote.

comment LuaLaTex is consuming 40 sec .. is there a way to reduce
@Johannes_B: To be pedantic, LuaLaTeX is quite slow compared to PDFLaTeX (because the packages are not optimized). In ConTeXt, the luatex backend is about 1.25 the speed of pdftex backend; if many complex metapost graphics/background are involved, then LuaTeX backend actually works faster than pdftex backend.

comment Error running Context texexec on Mac OSX 10.10, Ruby 2.2.0 Stable
Any particular reason you are using MkII (pdftex based format) instead of MkIV (luatex based format)?

Use titledistance=0.5em.

comment Metapost label based on variable value
In ConTeXt MkIV, you don't need to use the textext function because all strings that are typeset using infont operator in metapost are typeset using TeX. So you can just use label("$ n_{" & decimal(i) & "}$", origin) and it just works

comment Missing page numbers, first chapter only - ConTeXt
Usually, there are multiple context beta's every week, so I'll say that the ETA is 2-3 days. If needed, in the meanwhile you can edit $TEXMF/texmf-context/tex/context/base/page-ini.mkiv: On line 142, add \global before \pageornamentstate\zerocount (so that the line will read \global\pageornamentstate\zerocount) and then regenerate the format (context --make from the command line).

This was a bug in ConTeXt! See this thread. It will be fixed in the next beta. Thanks for catching this.

Try to create a minimal example. That is, removing everythibg that is not relevant to the question.
