ConTeXt doesn't implement some Knuth TeX primitives? @TimLi I am afraid that the details are only available in the sources. ConText user manual only describes \setupwhitespace command so that a user does not have to worry about \parskip. Maybe you can write a migration guide for plain tex users. |

ConTeXt doesn't implement some Knuth TeX primitives? @TimLi: Whenever ConTeXt overwrites a TeX primitive, it saves the original using \normal..... So, you can always access the original primitives. But just having access to original primitives is not enough. In your example, the reason that \parskip does not work is because ConTeXt resets it to the value of \setupwhitespace at the end of each paragraph. |

Text and figure side by side in a list in ConTeXt You don't need to stop the itemize; simply put the \placefigure before the item that you want to float around. |

What is the correct way to end a hanging indent section in Context? In general, do not use \everypar in ConTeXt. Use \EveryPar instead. |

Pass named arguments to macro In such cases, I really like ConTeXt's inheritance mechanism. You can define a set of options as \defineexternalfigure[myoptions][width=50pt, height=25pt]; for images where you just want to use these options use: \externalfigure[filename][myoptions]; for images where you want to use these options with other options as well use: \externalfigure[filename][myoptions][orientation=90]. LaTeX assumes that there is one set of default options, which leads to the need to define macros to handle this common use case. |

Is ConTeXt using TeX or rewriting it? Have a look at History of LuaTeX for details on how ConTeXt and Lua interact. |

What is the equivalent of Biblatex in Context? I am not saying that you use MkII; just that I have not used bibliography extensively with MkIV. In ConTeXt you can use tex files to change the look of your publications. Have a look at the bib manual and the bibl-*.tex files in the tex/context/bib directory. |

What is the equivalent of Biblatex in Context? @drozzy: For someone who doesn't know biblatex, I have a hard time understanding what "biblatex has and bibtex doesn't". What does "more flexible citation or bibliography formatting mean"? Adding new fields like pagetotal and url are straight forward (or, at least were straight forward in MkII; I haven't used bibliography much in MkIV). |

What is the equivalent of Biblatex in Context? Most of the information in the bib manual is still relevant to MkIV. Can you give an example of a feature from biblatex that you need? |

Continuously compile/watch source files in ConTEXt? Try the atchange program that is written in Perl and would work on Windows as well. |
