@Adriaan It is not faulty it is just a key that is not used. If you use the handler .. style={} you actually create it if it is not already defined regardless it is used or not later.

You cannot nest foreach for this example to work. The result is correct because for each x value all the \value values are evaluated. Hence @PierPaolo's solution is not an alternative it is the only correct one.

No there isn't because a pause is actually an independent slide. Thus you will encounter it forward and backward directions. But there is a button on the navigation symbols that goes back a frame (not a slide) hence you can jump back to the previous frame.
