I am having difficulty to understand where the top middle and bottom color should show up. The path is a arrowed curve with no node involved. But you have node specific options in the mal style. Do you want a node in the shape of a single arrow and shade it or you want that path to be colored? EDIT: Ah, OK now it's clear.

Single arrow is a node shape but you are not using it. Do you want to shade the path? If yes, that's not really trivial to do. Example, tex.stackexchange.com/questions/134283/… and another example tex.stackexchange.com/questions/5107/fading-a-path-in-tikz

comment How to start a curvilinear bezier curve at a specific point?
You need to put things inside a scope to limit the effect then you can shift around that scope. Example; tex.stackexchange.com/questions/169624/… and tex.stackexchange.com/a/167109/3235

comment everyshi.sty is missing, how to install
Normally if you install just pgfplots it should install whole bunch of packages, but I think you are doing it manually without the on-the-fly option

comment Issues with installing “tikz-cd” and “arrows.meta”
@StevenB.Segletes I saw the Win 8 interface and immediately formatted it. Didn't even bother to try :) tex.stackexchange.com/questions/152669/… and also maybe tex.stackexchange.com/questions/159751/…

comment What is the /tikz/center error that keeps popping up every time I compile my master tex file? How do I remove it?
Things you can do to clean up a bit, you can remove graphics, url, graphicx, color, caption package declarations because other packages load them anyway (if you are loading tikz). Also don't give [pdftex] option to hyperref. It is clever to get what you are doing.
