comment Disappearing Lines?
FWIW, I occasionally get a similar crash in TeXWorks, but I've never been able to pin it down. I suspect it's related either to large pastes, or to fast scrolling with PgDn or down-arrow.

comment Book style does wrong page shift
BTW, in most decently-typeset books, the outer margins (right margin on right-hand page) are wider than the inner margins. Do you want to do the opposite?

Some PDF viewers also have a switch when in two-page mode, to allow you to place the odd-numbered pages on the left or (more correctly) right of the pair. Usually, the default setting is Wrong

Thanks, Marco, \EveryCitekey is what I was looking for, but it's nice to have the biber tweak in my first-aid kit as well...

comment why this math mode in lettrine
FWIW, I've had a similar problem with EB Garamond, but without lettrine. I suspect the problem may lie in mt-EBGaramond.cfg (the microtype configuration), as renaming this file 'cures' the (my) problem, as does omitting microtype altogether. Using LuaTeX also cures.

comment Garamond kills bold Fonts
(Warning: Pedantic Comment!) Strictly speaking, since Garamond is an early, classical font, it shouldn't be used with bold characters; just roman, italic, and (maybe) small caps. "Bold is modern stuff".

comment Adobe Garamond Pro (otf) with mathdesign
@Luigi : Have you installed (That is, right-click on the file, select Install) the fonts from Windows' point-of-view?

I assume you're using XeLaTeX or LuaLaTeX. On my machine (Windows 7), your example compiles without error. Looks like a "font installation" problem. Is it necessary to run mktexlsr?
