comment git LaTeX and branches workflow
@jubobs Yes - I was looking at it from the perspective of finishing rather than starting! I don't actually use feature branches à la git flow. Normally, boring old stuff is done on the development branch; occasionally, for something a bit more dangerous, or where I'm doing two different things at once, I create subsidiary branches for that activity, and merge it back in when I'm happy. So my 'development' branch corresponds very approximately to the default git-flow 'develop' branch.

Sympathies. Everything that could possibly be wrong with a table, your boss has done it!

comment How to write a book in LaTeX
My first guess would be yes, but you're going to need additional packages, probably starting with polyglossia. I imagine you'll need Unicode support, so XeLaTeX or LuaLaTeX is also a must. It might be worth posting this as a proper question; I know memoir fairly well, but only in the context of left-to-right scripts.

Does it also fail if you use \input in place of \include?

comment How can I make whole document in italics
To reinforce @kan 's plea, having to read italic text in bulk is generally considered to be extremely tiring.

comment Set author's name in small caps the first time it appears in the text
@Sveinung I think that's a matter of taste. (Not judging either way.)

comment Do different TeX distributions produce PDFs of different quality?
The distributions should not make any difference, as noted in @MartinSchröder's answer. However you may see differences when viewing with different PDF viewers, and on different OS platforms.

comment Can gitHeadInfo.gin be safely added to .gitignore (without interfering with gitinfo's proper functioning)?
I agree, it was untidy. In the new replacement, gitinfo2, gitHeadInfo.gin now lives in the .git/ directory.

This doesn't answer your question directly, by have you considered using ebgaramond?

comment A nomenclature which it can be displayed in a MWE but nothing occurs when the full packages are included. Is there any conflict between packages?
Start with your full example, then remove the package calls, one by one, until the behaviour changes. At that point, you'll have an idea of which other package, if any is causing the problem, and will be able to make an MWE with just that package. That will make it much easier for us to help you.

comment Turning a blog(with comments) into a beautiful texbook
Instead of railing at @cfr that we don't have an instant answer for a somewhat vague question, help us to help you. For instance, add a screenshot to your question, or tell us how you plan to capture the content, and in what format. Or tell us what you've tried so far.

I'm working on gitinfo 2.0, which I hope will solve this problem (and a number of others).

comment gitinfo (xstring): tag info does not work because of “tag:” before version number
For those who are interested, I am currently working on gitinfo release 2.0, which will incorporate @cfr 's code. There will also be a new set of Release commands based on metadata from git-describe, and one or two other minor improvements. Email requests for '2.0-beta' will be promptly and happily replied to.
