comment OAI field in biblatex/biber
@anderstood nope because I am quite happy with the provided solution. This could be requested as a feature, but I am not sure.

comment How to remove orphan character from bibliography
Choose to list all authors, and everything will be fine. There's a kind of disrespect to omit some of them I believe.

I am not sure why you are facing so many difficulties. If this is for a paper, why don't you leave the effort to the editor?

comment How does TikZ clipping work? (the size ot the output)
ok, if you use pdflatex and open the output pdf file in Illustrator (for instance) you will be able to release the "clipping mask" and see that all circles are there. Same if you use latex -> dvips -> ps2pdf. IF you transform the ps file with acrobat distiller, the invisible circles are removed and the size of the final pdf, much smaller.

I've not tested but my guess is that all circles are actually encoded in the pdf file and the clipping command tells the viewer what to show. Acrobat Pro has an optimization feature able to remove from the encoding what is not shown (and this reduces the size of the file) but obviously, Tikz is not that sophisticated.

Not tested but you can either remoave manually all url entries in your bib file or create you own myelsarticle-num-names.bst file [from math.pitt.edu/~troy/stewart/elsevierversion/… and remove all the print.url output lines. I think it would work. Otherwise, you could use biblatex but the targeted style might not be available.

comment How to save a figure produced by tikz save/export as EPS file
@remus This was an old solution. What do you get with the following code: \documentclass[tikz]{standalone}\begin{document}\begin{tikzpicture}\fill(0,0) rectangle (4,4);\end{tikzpicture}\end{document} and the same compilation commands?
