TikZ image with hyperlinks --> GIF/PNG image + image map @AlexG: Oh, I always considered this to be a GIF feature. What I have just learned is that I am actually looking for a LaTeX --> GIF/PNG + image map converter. I have edited the question and its title. |

Add keywords to an existing language in listings Styles probably are the way to go. However, your answer would be more helpful if you could demonstrate their use on the concrete problem of the OP. |

Calculate prices +1 for the examples, I will remove my respective comment. The python thing seems to require lots of extra packages, though I am still not philosophically convinced :-) |

Calculate prices I am not so sure about the "philosophically right way". What is your discriminating property for "right" vs. "wrong"? Just that there is no built-in support for it in plain TeX? Would you also consider beamer or TikZ as "philosophically wrong"? The various floating-point packages are neither big nor black magic, so why exactly should one not use them? |

Quality loss at adding images to a LaTeX file Have you tried to compress the PDF, document PDF after it has been created by pdflatex? |

Finding a more efficient editor for collaboration of LaTeX people and Word people @LostBrit: I have written about a dozen journal papers (Springer, Elsevier, IEEE, ACM, ...) with LyX and never experienced any problems with the exported LaTeX code. Also LyX does nothing to your TeX source – it does not touch it at all! Recall that LyX should not be considered as a LaTeX editor. LyX is just able to import LaTeX code in many cases, but it manages and stores its own document format and forgets about your TeX code immediately. When you export from LyX to LaTeX, everything is generated. |

Beamer - Textblock and Show notes on second screen The issue is assumably the interference of pgfpages and textpos at the shipout level, which is the reason I have totally stopped using pgfpages, but use tools like pdfjam for post-processing the resulting PDF. See tex.stackexchange.com/a/53560/3751 for an example. However, Andrew Stacey found a workaround for the interference issue. I have never tried it, but it may work in your case as well. |

Finding a more efficient editor for collaboration of LaTeX people and Word people @PredragPunosevac: Yes I am. The highlighting is already in the LaTeX code generated by LyX. |

Referencing to “above” or “below”? @Simifilm: Please consider asking this as a dedicated question, including a complete minimal working example (MWE) that illustrates your problem. |
