comment How to make a document occupy more pages?
A PhD thesis is either long or good.

comment What are the pros and cons of using hard wrapping, and why is it so common with LaTeX?
@AndrewStacey: The word-wise diff tools I am aware of typically mark every changed line (e.g. by a light red background) and than within that line the actually changed words (e.g., by a dark red background.). So the context is always there.

comment Beamer handout: Problem when creating border around frames
The test for the .aux-file to prevent the pgfpages transformations on the first run is pretty neat!

@percusse: Your comment should probably become an answer.

comment How to create text with shadows?
+1 for sharing: Yory, that's a cute little package, please advertise more :-) You might consider adding an environment version of your \shadowbox.

comment Word 2010 on typesetting math
"I want to know if Word ... can handle typesetting..." Well, in that case the question is off topic and should be closed.

comment Word 2010 on typesetting math
Given the quality of the respective answers, I vote for not closing this question. Luiz, you might consider editing your question and the question title, so that it better fits into a QA format. Something like "How does Word 2010 compare to LaTeX for Typesetting Math"

comment Word 2010 on typesetting math
Good point, but please do not sell Lyx as an "editor", it really is a text system in its own sense that uses LaTeX as backend: See Can I think of LyX as a LaTeX IDE @LuizBorges: You really should give LyX a try. Especially when typesetting math, the learning curve is less steep, as you can mix interacting visual formular editing with typing the math macros you already know. For me, LyX was an important and (long-lasting) step for migrating from Word to LaTeX – and I still prefer LyX for simpler documents.

comment Custom divider between 2 minipage and lstlisting
Welcome to TeX.sx! Please extend your code to a complete and compilable minimal working example (MWE) (including \documentclass \begin{document} etc. that illustrates your problem. This makes it easier for others to use your code as a basis to help you!

Hm... seems that Werner basically had the same idea – and quick as he always is, he was about 3 Minutes earlier :-)

Yiannis, this is more than impressive. I love the pgfkeys-based interface and can't wait to see the sectioning support as well :-) Hope this will also work with KOMA.

comment Adding a signature on an online job application
Hm... I am not a lawyer, but I doubt that your approach makes any difference from a legal point of view. If the signature on a document somehow matches your name and some handwriting of you, you have signed the document.

comment Embed video in PDF with beamer under Ubuntu
Hm.. this is a common, but not LaTeX-related problem. AFAIK it's an unfortunate matter of fact that there is no PDF viewer available for Linux that can play video in place. (I think this question should be migrated to some PDF or Linux-related SE site)

comment callout and beamer
@01es: The indentation of the patch was indeed the culprit: The the @@ lines must start with column 1. All others: I have edited the patch so that a simple Copy&Paste should now work.

Unfortunately, I have not yet been able to find the background object. (The PDF in question is generated under Windows with OpenOffice 3.x from an OO presentation).

comment How to automatically truncate the length of a line in vim-latex?
Go to the specific line and press gqap. If you want to reformat the complete text, just select it in visual mode (ggVG<ESC>) and then do a gqap

Right, beamer.clsdoes not provide a \ref* command. You have to define it yourself.

:-) I have edited this also in your answer, so (after a while) we can delete these comments. As soon as I find some time I will try your suggestion.
