Useful notes for some of my answers:

CTAN lion drawing by Duane Bibby.

minimal working example](http://www.minimalbeispiel.de/mini-en.html)

The demo option for graphicx simply replaces actual figures with black rectangles; do not use that option in your actual document.

comment How to fix this problem with tikz knots and decorations?
An ugly hack is to first draw the knot path and the use a path just for the decoration: \draw[knot=black] (0,0) -- (1,0); \path[decoration={markings, mark=at position 0.5 with {\arrow{>}}},decorate] (0,0) -- (1,0);

Ah, yes; you're right. Not the path interrupts the arrow. Forget my previous comment.

This seems to work for your MWE, but I am not sure if it will be a solution in more complicated situations: \draw[knot=black,decoration={markings, mark=at position 0.5 with {\arrow{>}}},preaction=decorate] (0,0) -- (1,0);

comment ToC with different title from part title in document
@LatexQuest thats weird. Using the exact code in my answer I get the images I posted. Are you then getting something different? Could we perhaps discuss this in more detail in a chat room so we can more freely work with code?

Sorry about the poor code formatting, but comments are a PITA for code :(

+1 I was writing something similar, so no point in duplicating answers. You can simplify a little your code, since the labels can be automated:

comment ToC with different title from part title in document
@LatexQuest I did some tests. and the definitions used in \parttocfont affect all the entry. For example, using \def\parttocfont{\normalfont\Large\bfseries} makes all the entry \Large and boldfaced. Perhaps you are using a combination of font attributes that is not defined in the font used? I mean, if you try \def\parttocfont{\normalfont\Large\scshape\bfseries} with the default font, you won't get small caps because the default font doesn't provide small caps in bold faced series.

comment TikZ Tree Rectangle around nodes
@Samuel Sure. You can use text width=<length> to have the desired width for the nodes. I've updated my answer with a little example of the use of this option; adjust the settings according to your needs.

@LatexQuest you're right about the indentation; I've fixed this in my updated answer. Regarding the other question, I'll provide the necessary code later.
