Sep15 awarded Citizen Patrol Jun21 comment Using a negative space \! to differentiate between functions and products Instead of writing y(-x) you could either use y\times(-x) (the \times might be confudes with the cross product) or you could write -xy instead of y(-x) which is, I believe, the best option - unless, of course, you're not in a commutative algebra. I don't think readers will see the difference between y(-x) and y\!(-x). Jun21 comment Alternatives to LaTeX Nice find! Can be a nice alternative to LaTeX for good looking automatically generated documents. Jun20 comment Different symbols for square roots Ubuntu 12.04/Mozilla Firefox 21.0. Jun20 comment Different symbols for square roots I don't have vertical bars where you have. Then MathJax does different stuff on different browsers/OS? I like this question, and I love typing without any extraneous spaces or brackets. And I have no problems reading the stuff, so people who claim that it's more readable speak for themselves, just like I speak for myself... the point is that there's probably no good answer to this question. Nov5 comment Extract all emphasized words from latex document For \\emph{foo}, I don't know! but it's valid (La)TeX code. Oh, also how about \emph{the set $\{42\}$ is non empty}? Regexes are evil :(
