comment Highlight current section using alert in beamer
This is very helpful, however, now if I have somewhere \tableofcontents (without any option), then all entries are alerted. Is there a way out of the loop?

Thanks. Nice additional tweaks. Somehow the \setlength{\biblabelsep}{-0.5cm} doesn't work for me... The text comes on top of the marker.

What's the difference between your answer and @moewe's?

comment Where to find custom beamer themes
How do you figure out how the element you want to change is named? For instance, using CambridgeUS theme I want to change the background color of the section's short title.

Setting the bibliography item to text helps, but only if the style in use is either numeric or alphabetic. What's the way to make it play with authoryear?

Is there a way to replace the (useless) symbol with the key generated by biblatex (that is the one that is typesetted as the output of cite{F00} in the body)?

Is it correct that there's no way to factorize the first case?

comment Alert items in a block that is overlayed
It seems like the second alternative can be compactified further: In the second block the overlaying specification of the items can be removed, and instead the itemize block should be: \begin{itemize}[<+-|alert@+>]. Is there something similar for the first case?

Do you know why sometimes it is In: 2011 and sometimes In: (1969)?
