comment Use the beamer TOC style elsewhere
@samcarter: that gives me too much vertical space between the sections and the texts. Also, the texts are not indented to be on the same level as the section titles. (tested with the default theme and Warsaw) I could probably hack it to look acceptable, but then the whole purpose of using a theme is not having to hack anything.

comment Beamer: \nonumber equivalent for slides?
Note: If you have a frame title, you need to place [..] before the frame title. For example, I'm doing this to not count my outline pages: \begin{frame}<beamer>[noframenumbering]{Outline}

comment IEEEeqnarray: \tag-like command?
Have been using this for a while now with great success. Just to mention a bug I just hit, for the archives: The \ztag command has to be placed in the last column. E.g. if you just have content in the leftmost column, you still have to do my stuff goes here && \ztag{Foo}. Otherwise, the tag is not set, and I think even equation numbers are messed up.

comment smartref package: Problems when referencing from math mode \text{}
Now I got it! So inside \text{...} and with \firstchoice@false, \setcounter won't do anything, which is strongly unexpected by the definition of \@getsmartref which assumes \setcounter to just set the counter. Hah, thanks!

It just works, very nice, thank you so much! If you don't mind, could you explain why it works? I looked at the source of smartref and \text in amsmath, yet I couldn't figure it out. Why does \text have to bother with counters at all? And how could it be a problem for \@getsmartref to be evaluated several times?

Well, in fact I'm not using \sectionref, but \thmref with amsmath's theorem environments (which produces exactly the same error). I have some theorems with an enumeration inside and I'd like to reference theorems like 4.12.ii or (ii), depending on the context. I wrote it all up and it works nicely, the only issue left is this one.

comment IEEEeqnarray: \tag-like command?
Eh, almost! Just noticed that if I do \ztag{Fu1} \label{ax:Fu1} (or the other way round), a \ref{ax:Fu1} (or \eqref) will always print the (incorrect) number of the equation, in your case (1), not (Fu1). I guess that's because the counter is not yet changed when \label is evaluated. Any idea?

Would you mind explaining how you computed the number of \aftergroup's? Always happy to learn new things.

Chose this one because it precisely fits my request. Thanks a lot for the more complete solution below, too!
