comment Typeface and font
The typeface is the family, and the fonts are the members. For example, Times is a family, and its members are roman, bold, italic, condensed, etc.

comment Change Margins in ClassicThesis
I think that would defeat the purpose of using classicthesis, which is to emulate the layout of The Elements of Typographic Style. I would use memoir instead.

comment Is it possible produce .djvu files from LaTeX directly?
PDF is an ISO standard. I doubt the djvu documents can be smaller than PDF given that the latter supports JBIG2 and JPEG2000. Frankly I think djvu is dead. Your documents are more likely to be readable in the future if you use PDF. In any case, do not let me prevent you from trying. Maybe you can do a comparison and show us the benefits.

Isn't dvju for scanned documents? For Latex-generated content wouldn't a PDF serve just as well, if not better?

Just get started and ask on a need to know basis. Possibly of interest, though not about memoir: unexpected applications: Typesetting modern & contemporary poetry with Latex

You can load the microtype package if you use the beta version at xetex.tk/mediawiki/index.php/…

comment Can TeX post-process the PDF it produces?
I would attach the Latex source to the PDF and process that.

comment How to make the PDFs produced by `pdflatex` smaller?
If you have Acrobat, you can determine how the space is being used by going to Advanced > PDF Optimizer > Audit space usage

comment How do I cite an online book?
Surely you want to mention the URI. An access date is useful too, in case the "book" is updated.

Are you going to insert it manually, or do you have some criterion of "badness" by which it is to be done automatically?

comment Good arguments to make other people use TeX
@Jake: That assumes that they will need TeX in the future. This is an unwarranted assumption. How about this compromise: have them read a good book on information presentation and they can use whatever software they want.

Latex it is, then. I would recommend studying some sourced documents that you like.

Sounds like a great way to typeset the name of really, really heavy metal band.
