I'm a LaTeX enthusiast (who still has loads to learn, though :) )

I really like the LaTeX3 programming language expl3 which makes LaTeX programming so much easier and more intuitive.

I'm the maintainer of a few mostly chemistry related LaTeX packages such as chemnum or the chemmacros bundle about which I report on my blog www.mychemistry.eu.

Any code of mine that I publish or have published previously on the TeX.SE main site I hereby relicense under the WTFPL.

comment What does psfrag do, and can it be made to work with pdflatex?
For pdflatex one can also load psfrag and auto-pst-pdf and use psfrag's original syntax. (This also requires shell-escape to be enabled.)

comment Redefine \textbf to always be sans serif
I'd rather use \DeclareTextFontCommand{\textbf}{\bfseries\sffamily}

comment How to specify font size less than 10pt (or more than 12pt)?
Instead of using \changefontsizes one could (and should) rather use \KOMAoption{fontsize}{16pt} (which is the same as the package option), see tex.stackexchange.com/a/108732

I can reproduce the problem when compiling with latex -> dvips -> ps2pdf. When I compile with pdflatex the example works as it should

We don't need your complete header. \usepackage{chemfig} should suffice. What we need is to be able to reproduce your problem.

comment Electron movement between compounds in reaction schemes
In this case we're going to need a complete and compilable example (a MWE) with which we can reproduce the behaviour. In principle \chemmove and \arrow can be combined (see texwelt.de/wissen/fragen/5734#5738 for an example...)

Try placing \chemmove after \schemestop. mychemistry is rather unmaintained but if you notice something not working you could tell the author, anyway

Try \expandafter\ifstrequal\expandafter{\jobname}{mwe} or \ifdefstring{\jobname}{mwe}

comment Comparison of LaTeX example typesetting packages?
I have a package which I use for my package manuals with which LaTeX source examples can be set in various ways (code only, code and example, ...). It is able to handle code snippets as well as complete documents (which can be compiled on the go). It has a few quirks still which is why I'm hesitating to post an answer – but if you're interested...

In order to show you that my suggestion does work I could add an answer using it for Greek letters if you like.

The easiest way may be to use the enumitem package which provides \AddEnumerateCounter (see tex.stackexchange.com/questions/118445) in a combination with custom counter representation commands (see tex.stackexchange.com/questions/124980)

By »When using \enumerate« you mean »when using the enumerate package« I guess?
