comment Why do I need \fp_to_dim:n in my dimension expression?
I think \dim_set:Nn \l_@@_bar_width_dim { \fp_to_decimal:n { ... } \l_@@_x_dim } should also work (and would IMHO be a bit clearer). Anyway, you need to convert the fp from its internal representation into something usable in \dimexpr...\relax (which in the end is what evaluates the dimension expression)

comment Acronyms do not expand in longtabu/tabu
Probably the table is processed several times for measuring purposes and when the table finally is typeset it isn't the first time from acronym's point of view.

comment Convert custom footnote environment with “environ” to endnotes
The error message tells that obviously the macro \BODY is written to the ent file. However, \BODY is only defined within the Footnote environment (or any other of environ's environments). The real endnote is the first expansion of \BODY. Hence my idea…

comment acro list-style=extra-tabular writes over the right margin
@Eric have a look at longtable's manual. The length \LTleft is inserted to the left of a longtable which is the reason a longtable does not align with the margin to the left. If you set this length to zero the longtable will align to the margin. Just put it in your preamble after loading longtable.

Yes, in \DeclareAcroListStyle. Use table = longtable there, and maybe table-spec = @{}lp{.5\linewidth}p{.2\linewidth}l@{}. (\setlength\LTleft{0pt} will move longtable to the left of the page…)

@Eric if you don't want any space before the first column inside a table then use @{} in the column specification in the beginning.

@Eric I don't understand what you mean? Do you mean that longtable is centred to the page? This is describes in longtable's manual (and also how to change it)
