What? No faded drop shadow? :(

@strpeter I use the underscore package by default in my docs and your example works perfectly with that.

comment How to make this diagram in latex
Wow. I'm sorry but who gave a +2 to this question? This is not fair to the OP either -- they need to learn to improve their "questioning ability".

comment Table in the shape of an arrow
That is one of the most beautiful figures I've seen. Very clean and crisp.

Yes it does. Thanks. (Search didn't unearth that link ... Apologies for that.)

comment Shift title and author text up?
Thanks for the answer. You understood my comment correctly and I do agree with your answer. Just wanted to point out that the "best way" would be redefine \maketitle. I've seen people get carried away with \Large etc. Once they start, they can't stop :)

comment Is there other possible way for continuous numbering?
I guess in that case, you will have to make a counter of your own. See here for details: personal.ceu.hu/tex/counters.htm (Simply create a new counter and define a command that will return sequential numbers.)

comment \newcommand with adjustable size
Is it necessary that both i and j will have the same number of indices? Secondly, can there only be one superscript and one subscript?

Have you tried the alltt package and environment?

comment Why use .sty files?
@percusse I think he's trying to compare a separate .tex file with only the commonly used commands as opposed to defining a new style using .sty files.

No problem. You should really use the -| or |- for the final two lines though. It makes life very easy.

You can update the question and put the code there. That way, it's clearer to future readers as well. Also, make sure you mark the correct answer using the little "tick mark" below the vote symbols for the answer.

comment Shift title and author text up?
Er, I was going to downvote but then saw your rep. Now I have to ask: I was always under the impression that it was bad to typeset stuff like this but you mention it without any warning and it gives me the impression that it's 'standard procedure'. Have I been wrong all this time?

You can also look at pgfpages.

comment newcommand for verbatim
Oh, btw, I like to put a \small in there because the default monospace font is a little too big for my taste. I like my code snippets relatively equal to or smaller than my main font.

@BandGap I can certainly understand (as can the other people here) but they take time out of their busy schedule for us as well. So, even if we don't have time, the polite thing at the very least would be to not say that we're busy.

comment Empty sections cannot be broken, making page look stretched out
@BandGap It's bad mojo to say "I don't have time" on forums where you are likely to ask questions :)

comment Changing the number of figure or equation automatically in text by changing the places of figures and equations
+1 because it's something newbies would want to know but you should really read a LaTeX introduction e.g. "A not so short introduction to LaTeX". It will provide this and many other things that you don't even know you need :)
