I realize this question is quite old now, and this isn't exactly on topic, but I have a question regarding the use of \renewcommand. Is there any difference between what you wrote and \setlength{\headrulewidth}{0pt}?

comment Custom theorem numbering
I am interested in an extension of this behavior. Let's say I want to create a theorem with the same label as a previous theorem. I would like to display this as \begin{customthm}{\ref{oldtheorem}}\end{customthm}, but this gives me errors. How would I modify this code to achieve the desired result?

Is MathJax not activated on this website? The inline LaTeX wasn't typetset. I would have thought that inline LaTeX would be functional on, you know, a QA site for TeX . . . (I know it t works on Mathematics StackExchange and Physics StackExchange. Why not here?)

Probably, although I don't know of one off the top of my head. Mostly I've seen this (inconsistently) used on Wikipedia. Personally, I think it looks like shit, especially the i, but it makes sense that there be consistent rules to distinguish these special constants from variables named $e$, indices involving $i$, and functions named $\pi$, etc.
