comment How to put information about the tool used to generate the document into the LaTeX file?
I meant an option to disable it in the tool that generates the LaTeX file, so that hand editing of the resulting .tex file is not necessary. As for the second part: I'm more concerned about what it should look like, though some ways of coding it might contain some traps (like creating the whole blank page with only the "colophon" at the bottom in certain circumstances).

comment What free math font could/should accompany Linux Libertine and Linux Biolinum?
Wow. Just wow. Thanks for that. (In fact, when I started reading this answer, I got excited, but not too much - I told myself "let's see first who's doing this". Now that I've scrolled to see your name I'm all excited again.

comment Am I using LaTex2e?
@DavidCarlisle: of course, there are the evil Vim users, and then a lot of children playing with toys and calling them "text editors". ;-)

comment Am I using LaTex2e?
@SeanAllred: just wondering whether there is anyone but Emacs users who would use the phrasing "ask the system" ;-)

comment Why is LaTeX so complicated?
And since I'm in quite a trollish mood;-), let me mention that C++ also has this awkward, infix equality test syntax, instead of the natural (eq OBJECT1 OBJECT2).

@StevenB.Segletes: well, monarchy has been in development for a few centuries, was thoroughly tested, abandoned only because of pure political reasons, not efficiency, and replaced by a more modern, but much less effective system we have now.

comment LaTeX vs Word; improvements of LaTeX over the years
@bubba: maybe, maybe not. The commands I use I do remember; if not, I could always use detexify (though I tend to use the Comprehensive LaTeX Symbol List). Then, hunting through menus (especially multilevel) is not only slow, but extremely unpleasant. Also, they have other disadvantages, for instance, they usually take up precious screen real estate. (In my Emacs config I turned the toolbar and menu off, and saved two lines of text!)

@FedericoPoloni: what is the "rest of the software ecosystem"? My "software ecosystem" consists mainly of Emacs and a bootloader for it (I'm using that small piece of software called "Ubuntu" for that purpose).

@Pierre: there has been a discussion on the Emacs Org-mode mailing list about that paper; the consensus was that it's complete BS. (And note that this was an Org-mode list, so there were a lot of people actually not using LaTeX, possibly because it's too complicated when they have Org!) And BTW, in Org you can edit a table very easily and have it exported to LaTeX. (One thing it lacks, though, is cell joining.)
