How do I install TikZ on a MacBook? @Joseph: It's just point 2 that's inaccurate, yes? Specifically, the lack of administrative privileges was responsible for the error messages that ann reported, but the underlying problem was trying to use a TikZ library that doesn't actually exist. |

How do I install TikZ on a MacBook? I think the problem here is that you should be using \usetikzlibrary{mindmap} instead of \usetikzlibrary{mindmaps}. |

How do I install TikZ on a MacBook? For what it's worth, the current version of PGF/TikZ on my MacTeX 2010 install (updated through the TeX Live Utility) is 2.10. |

How do I install TikZ on a MacBook? As for your specific problem, you do not ordinarily have write permissions in /usr in Mac OS X, so you need to use sudo texhash instead of texhash (which is essentially what Caramdir is suggesting that you do). |

How do I install TikZ on a MacBook? When you say that you have TeXShop, do you mean that you have MacTeX: tug.org/mactex ? If so, then you should be able to run the "TeX Live Utility" (found in /Applications/TeX) to install PGF (and TikZ) if they're not already installed. |

Headings and advice to write a PhD in physics using LaTeX @Mermoz: Git works fine with LaTeX. You may want to take a look at the vc package ( ctan.org/tex-archive/help/Catalogue/entries/vc.html ), which allows you to include version control information (from Git, Bazaar, or Subversion) in LaTeX documents. |

What's a good package for typesetting quantum circuits? OP's primary objection to XyPic was speed, which matters if you're using it every time you build your document (which is the standard workflow for Q-circuit). The workflow for qasm2circ is to build the quantum circuit diagrams beforehand and then use \includegraphics, which offsets the slowness of XyPic (and is a better workflow for preparing documents for publication). And regardless of the OP's objections to XyPic, the fact that qasm2circ was used to produce the quantum circuit diagrams for the book on quantum computation makes it an important alternative to be aware of. |

Should one use thousands separators in equations? Are you using the \num macro from the siunitx package? |
