I am a theoretical astrophysicist -- at least I try to be when I'm not programming.

Annotated equations References come out right! :) I don't think I would have found \maketag@@@, even using \show. Did you just know that from experience, or is there some method to finding these things efficiently? |

Annotated equations I was even thinking that the text from \Domain should be slightly greyed out, so that the information is there if you need it, but doesn't make you feel like you need to read or think about it every time. |

Annotated equations Yeah, but the reader should be in the mindset of working in $C_{1,3}$ for this entire section, and thus shouldn't be burdened with frequent distractions. On the other hand, if the reader refers back to this equation from the section on $C_{2,4}$, it needs to be made clear that the equation does not necessarily apply. |

Annotated equations But I'd like it to be set just before the equation number, and not affect the alignment of the equation itself. My reasoning is that I don't want the condition to distract from the content of the equation. With quads, it sort of gives equal weight to the content and the condition. |

Unusual custom math accent That's good, and I'll keep it in mind, but I really wanted the text to be set on the side. I've added an answer below. Feel free to improve on that. |

Revtex warning with bibtex Ah, I was trying all kinds of things in that apsrev41Control block, but couldn't come up with author="48". Thanks. And thanks for the explanation, too! Anyway, I think I'll just stick with the explicit bibliographystyle statement, as that is easiest to implement. |

Intermittent bug: Equation shifts to the left along with number I've edited my question to include the code and simplify the problem equation, and changed where I put the \newline. Adding \newline \vspace*{-\baselineskip} right before the equation didn't work. I simplified the equations so much that it just can't be a problem with how I've entered them. Also, I've moved the footnote earlier in the paragraph, and tried \relax right before the equation -- both to no effect. |

Intermittent bug: Equation shifts to the left along with number They're big gaping spaces around the equations, and a particularly large one after Eq. (A10). I've tried various combinations of intertext and `\` and everything. [Also, I don't have any blank lines.] |

Intermittent bug: Equation shifts to the left along with number Oh, that suggestion wasn't there when I hit "Add Comment". Yeah, align works, though there's extra vertical space now... |

Intermittent bug: Equation shifts to the left along with number Hm. Nope. Good suggestions, though. |

Intermittent bug: Equation shifts to the left along with number Nope. No version of \hspace or \vspace works, with or without the star. (Which I never knew about before. Thanks!) I can even add a small nonzero value with no effect. |

single-column revtex4-1 adds a page break after the title section Beautiful! That works perfectly. I just wish that had been noted more prominently in the documentation. It also seems like a backwards default IMO. Especially because that's not the behavior with the twocolumn documentclass option. Anyway, thanks very much. |
