@nickie, I did so, but I think it's a possible duplicate of Conflict between Options of Packages

@DavidCarlisle here's how the class file names it: \ProvidesClass{Latex/Classes/PhDthesisPSnPDF}[2007/09/06 v2 PhD thesis class]

It's because the class you're using (I googled for it and found it here) already calls babel with the english option. The solution is to pass the greek option when loading the class file (\documentclass[greek,<...>]{<class>}. You could also call it with a \PassOptionsToPackage{greek,english}{babel} before \documentclass (as shown in the answers to this question)

comment Typeset a bibliography with entries in several different languages
To address the error you mentioned: have you tried loading T2A font encoding for cyrillic (as suggested in a comment to the answer I linked before)?

See also this very similar question. Although it seems aimed at polyglossia instead of babel, the accepted answer there addresses what @moewe mentioned in the answer below.

comment Auto-insert “Ref.” word before citation
This might be overkill, but I'd add "Ref." as a bibstring in order to have language-specific citations (mostly for case-sensitive citation commands such as \cite and \Cite).
