comment How Do I Horizontally Center An Operator Relative To Aligned Equations Above and Below
I think the text "outside aligned" is supposed to be, well, outside the align environment.

@egreg Of course I don't have just one line. I updated my example. How is that?

Of course I want to align multiple lines. My example is just to show what I mean by squeezed math.

Wrong. Compile my example and see that only the second of those two displaymath environments has a badbox.

The goal is NOT to avoid a badbox my any means, it is to avoid a badbox by having the math squeezed. See the difference in the amount of space around the + signs in my example.

I don't think you read my question very well. I want to align AND have math squeezed. Neither multiline nor align satisfies these conditions.

How do you align? Also, this displaymath environment doesn't appear to squeeze math.

Can you explain the difference between the "Normal" version and the "textstyle" (t) version? It took some serious squinting before I even noticed a difference.

@AlainMatthes Yes, I plan to use your new open triangle 60. What is the reasoning that the open triangles should behave differently than the closed triangles?

@ienissei Oh, I found it. It is at the bottom of the summary page. When looking at your own page, there is a special vote page that also contains this info but is not accessible on others profiles.
