mcgafter noun
A makeshift instrument or tool (mechanical, electronic or otherwise) whereby one may gaff (poke, hook, hack) something to achieve the desired result. Works better when it gets attached to a mcgoerie*. Very common worldwide especially in parts of Africa where it has been known to be the tool of choice of even high level government officials for all governmental problems.
mcgoerie noun
A well designed tool similar in shape and function to a mcgafter* yet completely different in it's purpose. May also be used on it's own. Uses of this instrument are very rare and appears to only occur in the countries of Namibia, Zimbabwe, Lesotho and South Africa, as well as where former residents of those countries have dispersed abroad.

Disable automatic kerning Thanks for the example. I've had a question in the past where I had to find the width of the text to include some lettrine in front of. tex.stackexchange.com/q/31459/7093 Even though in the general the answers were helpful, there remain always the cases where they just don't seem to work. So I'm just imagining that when I take the \textwidth it is value "A" and by the time the actual kerning and wrapping with value "B" is applied the width has changed to "A + B". Other than that I don't have a reason for thinking this. It's just in a some cases the solutions doesn't work. |

Prevent the overflow of text Thanks. But I need a command that will instruct the whole document of about 1800 pages not to do this. So adding it manually would be a bit of an issue. Is there not some command I can place in the preamble? |
