comment Problem with examdesign and twocolumn in Debian 8
Thank you very much for your reply. I have done as directed, and I think the problem can be traced to package 'multicol'. It complains that it may not work with twocolumn option in input line; but so did the old multicol, and it worked perfectly. The log files with both Debian 8 (doesn't work) and Debian 7 (works all right) are in et.bs.ehu.es/~etptupaf/Examproblem . Don't really know where to go from here, perhaps a solution would be to grab an old version of multicol and keep it locally so as to override the system wide new multicol. Your advice welcome.

Any news on this? Some workaround? I have exactly the same problem. Still keeping a Debian 7 system in a laptop to format examdesign + twocolumn documents.

comment Command for a question in Beamer
Thank you very much. Using auto-increment (<+->) works for me as you say. I wish it could also be used when I code overlays manually, which sometimes I need to do for more control. But your solution is good enough for most of my uses.

Because I want my students to have in front of them the current slide when I ask them the feedback question.

@MYaseen208: This I don't know. I suppose you could tweak the package. You might ask Guido Diepen.

comment Arrow with text above
No, it doesn't. I only use it with short text that has enough room over the regular \rightarrow (or \longrightarrow). I did not understand from your question that you wanted an stretchable arrow. For that you mighr try tou first build an arrow of the right size, then placing text atop it

I use it in this way: \overlim{a.s} or \overlim{p} and the text comes out on top of the arrow.

comment Setting document width in Lyx
He said "preferably in Lyx", which is why I thought package geometry could be an option. Otherwise, yes, I think cropping is the last resort, and I only use it for PDF's for which I do not have control.

@mpg: Thank you for pointing this. It is true that having the package pre-installed in a standard distribution would make its use easier.
