I'm a passionate software engineering trying to understand it at a deeper level while working on my PhD at the CWI (Netherlands), where we try to improve the future using DSLs (checkout the Rascal - Meta Programming Language).

Languages I learned and still use: Rasal-MPL, C#, Java, Javascript, Ruby, C, C++, Matlab, LaTeX. (This list should be considered outdated when you're reading this ;-))

As a hobby I try to bridge our software to the physical world using arduino, read ebooks, and enjoy photography.

comment How to correctly use the palatino font (in memoir)?
@Mico I agree, that was wrong, it just looked differenlty, but that was off course because mathpazo also doesn't define a slanted roman font. Could you clarify why you feel tgpagella provides no advantage?

hi egreg, thank you for your answer, I thought I read in the memoir manual (p15) that for extrafontsizes and other calculations to work you would have to load the fonts before the \documentclass. Why is using \left(...\right) wrong here? I thought you always had to do that?

well, Pagella does nothing for the math of a document. and I like Pagella a bit more since it allows me to slightly scale it down.

Hi Jake, thanks for your answer! Your right, for this example you should change the formula, but it was just a small example I adapted to make a clear example. For my use case it's a small shift to plot 3 data sets (marks only) in the same chart.
