comment Why is \mid so called?
I found this page useful, but my mind was blown by this other one explaining how to get a flexible-sized middle command with the right spacing: tex.stackexchange.com/questions/5502/…

comment Drawing polyhedra using TikZ with semi-transparent and shading effect
I'm trying to make 3D polyhedra and this is nicer than tikz-* for me because you don't need to manually specify the face order! (You specify the vertices, and for each face, its vertices in anticlockwise order relative to the exterior.)

comment Italicizing an Author in Biblatex
Thanks to someone who left a comment and useful links --- but all previous advice I can see if for ``How do I italicize my own name?" whereas I am looking to italicize one arbitrary name in each bib item.

I also know that this can be done by editing the .bbl file, but I am hoping there is a way that doesn't require manual intervention every time the bibliography changes.

comment biblatex IEEE bibliography style: Alphabetical labels rather than numerical labels
It does work, you are Wright! It also seems to work just as well when I append it to my .bbx file, which is nice since I don't need to add it again to my next latex source file. Thanks!

comment biblatex IEEE bibliography style: Alphabetical labels rather than numerical labels
@Marco: thanks. I had no idea that the .cbx and .bbx file would each provide their own way of generating labels, to me it's a weird system. Anyway I still have a problem but I hope it's phrased clearly now, please see the revision.
