comment Define a command for vectors, boldface letters, but not numbers
but, if you don't want the 0 to be bold, wouldn't it be enough to write \vec{x}_0? Edit: While that might also mean, you have to go through your paper again, in my honest opinion \vec{x}_0 is the semantically correct way to write what you mean, i.e. that you have several vectors x0, x1,...

comment What best combination of fonts for Serif, Sans, and Mono do you recommend?
Ouh yeah. Vollkorn is one of my favourite Fonts.

comment Breaking a long math expression
Do your formulae really span that much vertical space? Because for the MWE you provided, i would (especially together with the sentence) rather use inline math, i.e. \bigl(product of (A\times_{c} B) by C\bigr)\times_{c} D by E. (where i deleted your unbalanced paranthesis after D) and used the slightly bigger braces from amsmath which still fit into one line.

comment How to draw a diagonally-split grid with TikZ?
While I have no idea how to omit some of your grid, please note, that your line, which i think should be diagonal, is not. I thinkn the best would be to set the end point to (10,9).

I don't know, whether you typed it wrong, I didn't ;) Anyways, maybe this might also help: Scaling a tikzpicture for a Beamer slide

Welcome to TeX.sx! Have you looked at the scale key for a tikzpicture, i.e. in your case using something like scale=.8 in the {} begind the \begin{tikzpicture} ?

If you provide multiple ideas, also \only<x> and \visible<x> would be great as a comparison.

Now, that you changed your question and it is clear that you'Re not working on a document but on beamer slides - look at the manual concerning the columns and the column environment.

Then tell that in the first post of the question. By editing your post i just learned now, that you use beamer which you also didn't mention before. Please be more precise in the future.

@Vladimir I edited my answer to that question, but again, please provide a full description of qhat you want and what you tried (in an MWE). Adapting an answer step by step by step is not that nice.

\noindent removes the indent at the start of a paragraph (which is usually 2em). The \parbox makes the text 2cm in width and after that hfill fills the horizontal space, before it adds the image at the end of the line. This works great, if the image is not in a figureenvironment (hence floating).

I didn't get your question, can you update the original post above and provide an MWE? I think \caption{} is what you want and for your ideas, have a look at the floatrow package. Also, try not to post Follow-up questions, but formulate your question in one complete post (use edit above for this one ;) ) to clarify your question.

Welcome to TeX.sx! You can just use \raggedleft inside the figure` environment. If you're using any packages (despite graphicx) a minimal working example (MWE) would be very helpful.
