comment Why Safari is recommended for installing this?
As @krnk suggests, you can use the process detailed in the FAQ to see if the download went fine. If it did, you should not have any troubles with it.

comment Using TeXstudio and git to automatically commit using the current date
I am using a git alias for my log output (l = log --graph --pretty=format:'%C(red)%h%Creset%C(green)%d%Creset %C(white dim)%s%Creset %C(white)%an, %ar%Creset', so I immediately see the date my commit was done. Maybe - instead of forcing the commit message - you could use something like this, making your life a bit easier :)

comment converting tex to xdoc using pandoc (math formulas are not converted)
You will have to treat one format of your document as source, the other formats (be it PDF, DOC, HTML) as result. Having "editable equations" in all the possible output formats is probably too far-fetched (and even impossible for certain formats) to achieve.

comment converting tex to xdoc using pandoc (math formulas are not converted)
Re: "Should we start using latex from scratch?" Yes, indeed that's what I (and probably others here) would suggest for equations that are that complicated. For all the manuscripts I ever submitted I was sending the Journal a PDF, so I did my (less complicated) equations in LaTeX.

I suspect that your equation is too complex for pandoc to parse. Do you really need this formula in Word, or could you also import it as a figure?

comment Producing doc/docx from LaTeX
@sepideh "It's not working" makes helping you nearly impossible. What are the problems you are encountering? With pandoc, LaTeX, Word or OpenOffice?

@Zaertiu If you have a .png image, use this one with pdflatex instead of converting it to .pdf.
