I'm a discrete mathematician. My main research interests are discrete optimization and scheduling in specific. I've been using LaTeX on and off since 2007, mostly for homework assignments. I have really gotten into it while writing my thesis though. Scheduling problems call for quite a lot of diagrams, so my main focus and interest within LaTeX is TikZ.

Is the image (the clock in this case) also TikZ-generated? Or is that an external image you are including?

beamercolorbox does not have this option. The options for it are listed on pages 124-125 of the beamer manual. To get boxes with frames you can use TikZ or mdframed.

comment How to keep aspect ratio of marks in TiKZ plot when using different xscale and yscale?
perhaps use pgfplots instead to do the plotting? Then you can add the scaling as an option to the axis environment.

comment How to import ASCII coordinates to TikZ
If the OP uses this exact method for multiple lines as well, then no. He can of course do the reads inside of a single tikzpicture environment depending on the results he wants. I'll add an example where it reads the entire file.

fixed title and grammar

comment What are penalties and which ones are defined?
They are not, just the penalties associated with page breaking, as far as I can tell. There are some other for ,e.g., line breaking which are discussed in chapter 19. There might be others still besides those.

Section 27.4.2 of TeX by topic lists breaking point penalties. I'm not sure whether these are all the penalties there are though.

comment Automatically convert quotations in the form of “abc” to become ``abc"
@matth: I completely agree. In my academic writings I (pretty much) never use quotes. The only time I use them is when passing a literal string to the pgf math engine and in that case I need actual quotes, not the converted ones. Which mostly ends up in me typing \" and then removing the ``. This doesn't happen often enough for me to disable the autoreplace though. I know what I want in what case and how to obtain it. If you are using mostly quotes as in quotations it's an option though :)

comment Push/Pop or save a length/dimension?
@AhmedMusa: Thanks for the example. Better safe than sorry, same goes for the \empty marker of course.

comment Push/Pop or save a length/dimension?
@AhmedMusa: Out of curiosity, do you happen to have an example of when an assignment to \toks0 causes problems? As far at the \empty goes, I don't see that as a real problem, considering what the stack is meant for.

comment Push/Pop or save a length/dimension?
@egreg: good point. I added two \globals. I think this should be sufficient to handle groups. Of course, the assignment to \parindent would have to be made global as well for it to persist after the end of a group.

comment Including TikZ image (with external inputs) inside adjustbox adds horisontal spacing, why?
I am guessing spurious spaces, add a % at the end of the lines doing the \input and starting the \adjustbox.
