I'm a consultant in intellectual property matters, helping clients with their patent and trademark (and some copyright) problems. I have degrees in chemistry (U. Chicago, Harvard) and law (U. Calif. Hastings), and I have been a registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office since 1989. Most of my work is in the biopharmaceutical, nanotechnology, and software industries.
I started learning TeX in graduate school and enjoyed playing with it over the years. When I opened my own business a few years ago, I junked my Microsoft misery and took up LaTeX and Linux for my business and pleasure computing. I have no regrets. I use LaTeX for all of my professional writing, even for chemical structures. I hope to do more evangelizing of LaTeX to those who need a better solution for academic quality typesetting in non-academic environments.
