Being judgemental is the most unfortunate thing ever.

Yes, I mean the behaviour of opening up one's profile, and downvoting his posts one by one out of no good reasons.

comment Can TeX/LaTeX create fillable forms in a scanned pdf?
@GonzaloMedina: (1) eforms is not in TeX Live, does it mean I will download it to somewhere that TeX can find? (2) The question you point to is for creating forms while creating the pdf, while my pdf is a scanned one already. So I wonder how that can be done?

@JosephWright: Thanks! I understand (1) better now. In (2), "So there is no real need for VirTeX“, but the reason before it seems to be all about iniTeX and tex?

In "if you copy tex to latex or just make a symbolic link so the command may be called via either name", I was wondering what original program the "symbolic link" is made to? What is "the command"?

Thanks! (1) "virtex was a vanilla tex with no preloaded format, just tex primitives you could load it with a format", I wonder if with no preloaded format and with a format are contrary to each other? (2) tex and initex got merged, and what happened to virtex?

comment TeX distribution and TeX implementation
@egreg: (1) I still don't see why Web2C is not a distribution. (2) Is Web2C an engine/compiler/interpreter then?

Is cslatex a macro package as LaTex, or a compiled binary as pdfLaTex?

Thanks! So Tex is an language interpreter, coupled to an engine. Is an engine an interpreter, compiler or something else? What is the counterpart to an engine for Tex in a programming language?

"A format in a TeX context is a language built using TeX (typically by dumping a collection of ready-defined macros and other definitions into a packaged binary)." I wonder if by "built" and "dumping", you meant "compiled" and "compiling"? By "a packaged binary", do you mean the executable of an engine?

@MartinSchröder: "pdflatex is not an engine". What is it then?
