The first times I ran LaTeX, once I was talking from a university lab Linux machine (no LaTeX installed though) to this colleague, and so I asked and he was curious enough to be that spontaneous to provide me an account, and so I copied remote my undergraduate student dissertation *.tex files to his computer; then launched latex successfully, in several rounds, while I was revising.

It all lasted for about less than five minutes. Next thing I know is my worried colleague signaling me promptly: "Hey, what is that latex process you're running? It busies my machine almost one hundred percent. I don't know what you're having there, but here can do nothing besides. I have to cut you off". And that was it instantaneously.

I think he got better in life, afterwards. When we met, we never discussed this event. # 19810
