comment How to influence the position of float environments like figure and table in LaTeX?
In the LNI template, I found \def\fps@figure{htbp} which seems to set the default parameters for float parameters. Think, this is worth including in the answer, isn't it?

comment How to reduce the space between two slashes when using \url?
@yo' The original code in that answer worked fine. With your patch, I had to include \usepackage{mathtools}, but I still get Missing number, treated as zero.. With LNCS class, I could not get your real answer running, but this here works fine. I should provide a MVE for checking though :\.

comment Anyone knows how to set the indentation of BibTeX in JabRef?
If submitting a feature request, please state why you want to have the equal signs globally starting at the same column. The reasoning for starting the { at most far right column at each entry was that each entry looks nice locally and you can do easily copy and pasting end emailing without letting other users think "WTF, what a waste of space". - The current development strategy states that configuration settings are to be removed to improve the overall quality and stability of JabRef.

I am unsure whether this is doable. If you don't get help here the next days, please file an issue at JabRef's issue tracker.

comment Jabref: Not Adding month when importing?
When browsing the linked web site (dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.jjcc.2014.09.007 leads to secure.jbs.elsevierhealth.com/action/…), there is no month displayed. Could you check other articles. I would propose to post an issue at github.com/JabRef/jabref/issues. Remember that JabRef has multiple fetchers as described at help.jabref.org/en. It would be nice if you stated for each fetcher whether the month works or not.

The solutions seems to work, but does not work out of the box with if when \Else is used.

comment How to include a shortened title for the pdf renaming utiltiy in jabref?
First guess was \shorttitle, but that was not correct. I would propose to ask at lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/jabref-users to have a look at this post. If that does not help, please open an issue at the issue tracker.

Could you post to the issue tracker of JabRef? Maybe issue 296 is related.

comment Unable to install JabRef 3.1
Do you have a machine running 32 or 64 bit? Maybe you should try the 32 bit version of JabRef? Available at sourceforge.net/projects/jabref/files/v3.1. Look at the windows file without x64 in the filename.
