comment Forcing linebreaks in \url
@KOthetypo: This happens all the time, that something in the Internet is disappearing. I do not remember, but derived from the dates of this answer and my comment you refer to, I guess someone was guided into a trap by this answer. Note also, that the answer meanwhile was several times edited.

comment Installing MiKTeX 2.9 on Windows 8
@ComFreek: Thx for your reply. BTW also on Win 7 the menu entry is by default Update or Update (Admin) without the distinctive “MiKTeX”. I’ve added this manually on my own machine.

comment How to include SVG diagrams in LaTeX?
@user1271772: Thank you for this implicit compliment, but in fact also with this package the svg files are converted, but this happens under the hood during the compilation process.

comment How to use Xindy with MiKTeX?
@nnunes: Thank you for your edits. I did not have time (and leisusure) to do this on my own. I added now another remark regarding the binary path.

I think you refer to CTAN: Topic verse. I cannot tell anything about strengths and weaknesses, but perhaps it is also just a matter of taste which one you want to use. Read manuals, test the packages with an excerpt of your looooooooong poem.

comment Problem sizing the image with \includegraphics
As far as I know you have to set all images to the same dpi before you use them in TeX. See DPI for imported bitmaps. And Uncertain about dpi in LaTeX and comments. Or in general the tag resolution.

comment Insert eps graphics with graphicx (file not found)
Yepp, but one must take care that epstopdf is loaded after graphics/graphicx. In TeX Live this is not needed. See also my comment to Schweinebacke’s answer.

comment fullwidth environment with sidenotes package
You do not need the \ifthenelse{\boolean{@twoside}} stuff, you can use adjustwidth* environment also in oneside mode (there exist only right pages then). Note, that there is also a KOMA-Script own environment addmargin⟨*⟩ with the same functionality. Read sidenotes and changepage documentation for package option strict. You could also take a look on the KOMA-Script package scrlayer-notecolumn.

comment Texmaker isn't matching my labels
In addition to Werner: You have different TeX editors, but how is it with the TeX distribution? Do you use exactly the same? I refer here implicitely to comment of fpast above.
