I need to draw figures related to a computation algorithm which involves circles growing and adjusting themselves in every figure. Later I need to use ellipses instead of circles. Is there any generic approach to drawing this (someway I can just substitute the draw circle command with a draw ellipse command). Figures are as below
The MWE for the first steps of the packing are as below,(I used a plot digitzser to find the coordinates
\documentclass{standalone}
\usepackage{tikz}
\begin{document}
\begin{tikzpicture}
\draw[black,dashed](1,1) rectangle (11,11);
\draw[black,thick] (1.2040104901,1.1317523057) circle (0.1cm);
\draw[black,thick] (5.8994695942,1.3162055336) circle (0.1cm);

circle (1mm and 2mm)
you'll get an ellipse, rather than a circle. But I'm not sure how helpful that is.
