I am using a black background rectangle for a diagram, but cannot seem to get all the remaining white removed, I am mainly using overleaf to test my image.

\documentclass[11pt]{standalone}
\usepackage{tikz}
\usetikzlibrary{arrows, arrows.meta, backgrounds, calc, shapes.misc, positioning}

    redBox/.style n args={3}{
        text centered, fill=redVue, minimum width = #1, minimum height= #2, text=white,

I know it's kinda hard to see the white but it is definitely there on overleaf.

    Use \documentclass[tikz,11pt]{standalone} (instead of \documentclass[11pt]{standalone} \usepackage{tikz}). This will then make sure that the boundaries of the tikzpicture are used. Alternatively you can move \begin{document} after \definecolor{redVue}{rgb}{0.95,0.45,0.55}. The reason for the white area is not tikz but some spurious spaces in the commands before \begin{tikzpicture}.

  • Move \begin{document} to immediately before \begin{tikzpicture}. Aug 6, 2019 at 20:27
