I try to use nath and couldn't get it to work within my document. So I started to track down the error with a minimal and adding all packages that I use after and after. I saw that I can load every package without errors (if I load nath at the very end) except the biblatex package. I get lots of errors when I load the biblatex package. Is there a workaround?

Here's the minimal I compile:

% \addbibresource{bibliography.bib}

(\sum_{i=1}^n x_i^p)^{\displayed{\frac 1p}}

  • So you're saying there is no way of using both nath an biblatex? – DaPhil Mar 4 '13 at 8:06
  • The nath package also looks rather old. Sad that it's development is frozen. It has some features that makes math much more straightforward. On the other hand, biblatex is must... There is no other package which is more compatible with everything else (biblatex is not the only package which causes problems) that has some of the nice features nath offers? – DaPhil Mar 4 '13 at 8:39

To my surprise (nath does a lot of low level catcode changes), swapping the load order of nath and biblatex works.

Sample output

(\sum_{i=1}^n x_i^p)^{\displayed{\frac 1p}}

with ref.bib containing

  author =   {Author, A. N.},
  title =    {Title},
  journal =  {Journal},
  year =     2010

  • And I am surprised too, because it does not work for me... I tried that myself and the only thing I can get nath to work is to not use biblatex. – DaPhil Mar 4 '13 at 10:10
  • Well I have to correct myself a little. I compiles with about 7 errors but the output some how looks like it is using nath and the references seem to be correct as well. I'll post the errors later and maybe someone can tell me if it is severe. – DaPhil Mar 4 '13 at 10:14
  • The biblatex I am using is pretty new - may be updating would help. – Andrew Swann Mar 4 '13 at 10:17
