Hansen-like chapter heading

Question

I'm trying to customize the book class chapter headings. Something similar to memoir Hansen chapter style might be cool.

But I'm quite stuck right now since I can't make the chapter title overlap the chapter number. Here is the code I use. Any help would be very much appreciated.

To extend the question, now that I realize the chapter number may not be visible enough, how would you do make the same thing but avoid the title overlapping the number?

Basically the same as below but the number on the other side.

If I understand you right, this approach with »titlesec« accomplishes the style you want. Should also work with the book class.

With regard to the comment this is an approach which swaps chapter number and title. Note that the width for the heading has been chosen with respect to two-digit chapter numbers.
