I am using classicthesis-v4.1 Lyx template for my thesis. I know that it is not advisable to make many changes in classicthesis.sty but I don't want to use the margin notes option in it. I tried the following solutions:

1) Did not change anything but removed all the margin notes. Result: enter image description here

2) Tried the solution provided in Remove Marginpar from Classicthesis 4.1. (Pasted the following lines in preamble as provided in the link)

%%% Change the text block area to add also the margin space
\areaset[current]{\dimexpr\textwidth+\marginparwidth+\marginparsep}{\textheight}
\setlength{\marginparwidth}{0pt}
\setlength{\marginparsep}{0pt}
\usepackage{kantlipsum}

which gave me: enter image description here

3) Tried the solution given in Book's class page margins in ClassicThesis (Pasted the following lines in preamble as provided in the link)

    {% Palatino or other
   \PackageInfo{classicthesis}{A4 paper, Palatino or other}
   \areaset[current]{345pt}{768pt} % ~ 345 * factor 2 + 33 head + 42 \the\footskip
   \areaset{345pt}{815pt} % 740 (factor 2.2) + 33 head + 42 head \the\footskip
       \setlength{\marginparwidth}{7em}%
       \setlength{\marginparsep}{2em}%
   }%

which gave me: enter image description here

What is the safest way to adjust them? Desired: enter image description here

Further, how to adjust the chapter titles on the top when they are too long as shown below: enter image description here
