I am using the memoir class with Xetex and have the option for text figures on. Every thing works as expected, but the numbers of the footnotes are capital number while all other are (as wished) lowercase (old style). How to set the footnote numbers old style too?

This is a working example:

\documentclass[10pt,twoside]{memoir}
\usepackage{fontspec}
\usepackage{xltxtra}
%\setmainfont[Numbers={OldStyle},Ligatures={Common, Rare, Historic}]{Minion Pro}
\setmainfont[Numbers={OldStyle},Ligatures={Common, Historic}]{Adobe Garamond Pro}

\begin{document}
This is some text.\footnote{A footnote} Some more text.

All Numbers are OldStyle Numbers: 1234567, but not the footnote!
\end{document}

    Try removing xltxtra: it redefines the superscripts, see tex.stackexchange.com/questions/76470/… – clemens Mar 19 '14 at 21:17

    May I suggest that normally fontspec uses superior numbers for footnotes, ang these are always lining figures, in accordance to the tradition of professional typography – for reasons of legibility. – Bernard Mar 19 '14 at 21:43
  • @Bernard You are right! I think, I added ´\usepackage{xltxtra}´ some time ago for exactly that reason and than forgot about it. After I had removed it, I realised that it is a bad idea to use old style numbers for footnotes. – user5950 Mar 19 '14 at 21:46
