Notice that you can use the optional argument for \title
, as in
\title[<short version>]{<long version>}
to provide a shorter version of the title for the footline. If this is not an option, then see below.
You can place the three elements (author,title and page counting) in different beamercolorbox
es and adjust their width to suit your needs (change the wd=<length>
parameters making sure the three lengths add up to 1\textwidth
):
\documentclass{beamer}
\usetheme{CambridgeUS}
\makeatother
\setbeamertemplate{footline}
{
\leavevmode%
\hbox{%
\begin{beamercolorbox}[wd=.3\paperwidth,ht=2.25ex,dp=1ex,center]{author in head/foot}%
\usebeamerfont{author in head/foot}\insertshortauthor
\end{beamercolorbox}%
\begin{beamercolorbox}[wd=.6\paperwidth,ht=2.25ex,dp=1ex,center]{title in head/foot}%
\usebeamerfont{title in head/foot}\insertshorttitle
\end{beamercolorbox}%
\begin{beamercolorbox}[wd=.1\paperwidth,ht=2.25ex,dp=1ex,center]{date in head/foot}%
\insertframenumber{} / \inserttotalframenumber\hspace*{1ex}
\end{beamercolorbox}}%
\vskip0pt%
}
