# Why does my pgfplots scatter plot contain colours not in colour map? [closed]

This is a follow up to a previous post. My aim is to produce a plot that uses meta data to colour/shade data points. What I'm having trouble in understanding is how the colour map is applied at the max/min values in meta range. As you can see from the MWE below, the points that have $\Pi_2 = 0$ are coloured blue whereas I'm expecting black as I'm using the hot2 colour map. Can anyone tell me what's going on here?

Thanks!

• You have to set colormap/hot2 for the whole axis, not just within the colorbar style. – Jake May 6 '15 at 12:46
