I recently reinstalled both LyX and MiKTeX (on Win10, if it matters), hoping to fix a longstanding error where I couldn't export to pdf via pdflatex. Now, instead, no pdf exports work. It reports that it was successful, but no actual output is created. Exporting to .tex and .html (picked at random) both work just fine, but LuATeX also doesn't work and used to work just fine.

I have tried:

  • Uninstalling and reinstalling MiKTeX (v2.9) as admin and as local user
  • Uninstalling and reinstalling LyX (v2.1.4)
  • Running pdflatex directly via the command line worked on a simple "hello world" example (with \begin{document} but no other content) but did not work on my resume (which the error log below is for). Additionally, using LyX to attempt to pdf-output "Hello world" with no LaTeX preamble visible still fails.
  • Running some other commands via the command line that, frankly, I don't understand, which is okay because it didn't work anyway.

Log of the pdflatex export, in case it helps? It's all Greek to me.

  • Is that the complete log? It ends a bit early. – Martin Schröder Sep 29 '15 at 18:16

  • I've seen reports of a few problems like this on Windows 10. If you do not find another solution, consider installing Ubuntu in a virtual box, or dual booting (much easier to do than it sounds). Hopefully someone is able to figure out the problem though. – scottkosty Sep 29 '15 at 23:35
  • Does the error occur when you export or when you view? Are you clicking on the eyes? How are you doing the "export"? – scottkosty Sep 30 '15 at 2:16
  • If you are clicking on view, I would recommend installing SumatraPDF and using that as your PDF viewer instead of Acrobat. It has solved many problems like this. – scottkosty Sep 30 '15 at 2:16
