This post is building off the color area under plot in pgfplots. I was trying to add extra tick labels at 1000 and 3000 (based of the area under the curve). I am only getting the last number showing up, like this: enter image description here

How can I get both 1000 and 3000 to show up on the plot in bold. Here is the code:

\documentclass{book}
\usepackage{tikz}
\usepackage{pgfplots}
\usepgfplotslibrary{fillbetween}
\pgfplotsset{compat=1.10}
\pgfplotsset{minor grid style={dotted,gray!50}}
\pgfplotsset{major grid style={gray!50!black}}

extra x ticks and extra x tick labels can take lists of positions and labels, not just single values. So you should use:

extra x ticks={1000, 3000},
extra x tick style={%
    grid=major,
},
extra x tick labels={
    \textbf{\emph{1000}},
    \textbf{\emph{3000}}
}
  • thanks for your response. I forgot to mention, how to hide the 10^3 tick label? – Joe Dec 17 '15 at 21:24
  • Set xtick={100,10000} – Jake Dec 17 '15 at 21:55
  • I just realized a slight issue with your solution....the grid line at 3000 above the graph now shows up solid instead of dotted. Is there a way to fix this? – Joe Dec 17 '15 at 22:24
  • @Joe: Set extra x tick style={grid=none} – Jake Dec 18 '15 at 7:25
